It's funny to see what you guys consider old school.

And Nemesis is right, nowadays new rappers ain't got new skills.

Most new school anything sucks nowadays, compared to back in the day at least. It's not just rap.

its old school because I grew listening to it. plus, the 90s had the best rap out and the 90s is over. thats why I consider it old school. granted there was rap in the 80s but 80s<90s

Ha, this makes me laugh.

Actualy the majority of the bands i like are christian. (the members anyway, not the song matereal). Or if they are not christians then they are Athiests.. and they don't even believe satan exists so how can they worship him ?

I actualy enjoy "old school" rap that had actual meaning to the songs. The kind of mainstream crap that is around know is just to pointless to listen to for me. I mean how may songs can be writen about a girl with a big ass?

All you need is a synthetic beat with a man with a deep voice shouting something like "bitch" or "get money" at random intervals. Add the most obnoxious thing you could think of in the backround like an air raid siren and you're about 99% done making the song, just look at the masterpiece chicken noodle soup.

Personally my favorite rap song to cruise around town listening to would have to be the real ***** role call, that song is poppin'.

Rampage, 50 is like, one of the worst rappers now. He hasn't dropped a good beat in years.

Eminem kills tho. Amazing for a whiteboy.

A1, are you serious about that Lil Jon song tho?

Serious about what? I have it burned but only as a joke that song doesn't even make any sense.

I'm not really a big fan of any music, but I'll admit I thought 8 mile was a good movie. Around my way all that 'pop rap' shit is blasted from systems that 55 year old accountants bought for their spoiled children. That is about as gangster as it can get.

Speaking of Eminem I just remembered that song 'My Band'. That music video was hella funny =P.

If you want a more funk rap song go for Rappers Delight by The SugarHill Gang. A beat and melody we all should be familiar with. Also The Humpty Dance is another funk rap song.

They obviously don't fit in the G category, but it is still considered old school rap.

If you want to listen to some good new rap then I suggest Lupe Fiasco, Styles P, Talib Kweli, Rhymefest, Common, and Kanye West. There are plenty of good rappers nowadays but you just gotta look through alot more trash.

lol didn't 50 cent get shot like 9 times or something and people think he's tough for getting shot 9 times and eating it? That doesnt mean he is tough, that just means the person who shot him was either ray charles or mormon and sucks at life so bad that they not only think its right to take a life but they cant even take a life at PB range with a gun what a loser.

50 Cent is a fake. He's one of the reasons that rap is suffering right now.

I totally agree with p0tat0 about Talib Kweli, Common, Lupe Fiasco etc., but any list with these on it, you have to include Immortal Technique. Fork, if you have never heard him, find some of his stuff right now. Revolutionary Vol. I and II are both great albums.

Finally, for those of you saying rap is crap, why don't you let the people who like it talk about it without adding your own useless comment, such as "RAP IS CRAP LOL!!1!1!!!"

I think I found a new addicting song. "Bitch I might be" by Pillz.

mmm.
Rap has declined A LOT when Lil Wayne is proclaimed the "Hottest MC in the Game" by MTV (and the rest of his riders.)

I'm listening to:
Wu-Tang
Biggie
Canibus
Jedi Mind Tricks
Tonedeff
MF Doom
Gangstarr
Major Figgas

and some Philly rap. Joey Jihad, Reed Dollaz, Gillie Da Kid, Cassidy.

I can say that I loathe a few names that have been brought up in here. Wayne, 50, Em. Kanye has a few songs but his head is so far up his ass (ego-wise) he could eat his food twice. Lil Jon? Come on, guys.

Yeah... I knew that without ever seeing that video. You can just tell that his music is so overproduced and synthesized by the way it sounds. That's what's wrong with mainstream hip-hop: too many "artists" just hire some tech-savvy dude to create their music on a computer. So many people are guilty of this, but I think people are starting to realize. I hope this will bring about some change, and hip hop will revert back to artists who actually have something to talk about besides all their jewelry and bitches.
