Say I have my homemade DVD with a total of 5 minutes of material on it that I want to put on the internet. Do I need to install a moive editing program to cut what I dont want out and maybe add music?
I had vegas movie editor 5 I think on my old computer but I bet the disk to install it is long lost.
+Rep for help I know that +rep offer makes it worth your trouble:p

Most computers have windows movie maker, so when you extract the video from the DVD, you just put that in Windows Movie Maker, add music or effects, and then upload it to Filefront or Mythica or something.

All Windows based computers come with Windows Movie Maker. Macs come with some other type of movie editor. You can always "download" other editor programmers.

Wait...um I have a disc in the drive but windows movie maker wont let me import the information on the disc into it??? I tried saving the info on the disk to my desktop and copy & paste but that doesn't work, and I tried zipping it to a folder and then C&P but that doesnt work either?? I'm sorry I know these are real basic questions but I am so far behind with computers and it would take me forever to look all this stuff up as opposed to getting a quick helpfull response from somebody that already knows their stuff, really appreciate any help thanks a lot.

If you open the file in Windows Media Player then click File - Save As you should be able to save the file as a .avi then upload it where ever.
If you do not see the 'File' option right click next to 'Guide' and select 'Show Menus'.
