i am at the beach using my friends comp and i am getting an insane amount of popups on our site i mean like 5+ a click

i was wondering what causes this just on this particular site....i just put in a popup blocker but im just wondering

It's not a virus it's most likely spyware. We have no popups or advertisements on our site :P

The site that Envy recommended contains software which is free. There is plenty of good virus and spyware protection out there.

AVG Anti-virus Free Edition is what I use and I highly recommend it. http://free.grisoft.com/

For spyware I use A-squared Free Anti-Spyware. http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

Spybot Search & Destroy is also very good as well.

If you keep your definitions updated (just update weekly), scan for spyware once a week, and then for viruses about once or twice a month, you should be fine. At first it will take a couple scans to get some of the spyware off because they may have duplicated themselves.

Another thing is that, it's good to keep two spywares handy (but only one running all the time) because some programs catch things that others don't.

Yea some programs don't catch other things unfortunately. My setup is like this

Programs Running:

Search and Destroy - Scans Every Monday at midnight
WebRoot Spy Sweeper - Scans Every Wednesday day at midnight
Ad-Aware SE Enterprise - Scans Every Tuesday at midnight
McaFee Virus Scan - Scans Every Thursday Night


And thats just for Virus/Spyware I also have another 4 applications or so for privacy ;)
