Well no 1 really knows the stuff ive been through in iraq. SO i thought i would give you the story from someone who spent 10 months in iraq fighting to stay alive. And here it is.
Name: Jason V. Leger
Birthdate: Januray 4th 1985
Place Of Birth. Hollywood FL (Miami)
Occupation: USAF
High School: McArthur High School
Graduation Date. 2003
Since i metioned i was in iraq, some people said i should tell you about me. So i figured i would tell you guys about it to give a little more info on me and my trip to iraq. Imagine this. 65 LBS of armor in 140 degree weather. I was in tikrit which is Sadams home town. I was assigned to the 1058 Gun Truck Detachment which was right out of Speicher. We did convoy security. In other words we protected the supplies from base to base. I was over there for a total of 236 days. I went through 4 IED attacks (improvised explosive device), 1 RPG, Hit a land mine and had a Small Arms Fire attack. (inother words some dumb *** tried to shoot us with a AK 47). I was a gunner/driver. I also killed 7 insurgents while protecting the men and women of my convoy. Im qualified on the Mark 19 (automatic gernade launcher), 50 Cal. , M-4, M249, and the M240. When your over there you have the mind set, not if you get attacked but when. Everyday and night weither your sleeping, on a convoy working out, your life is on the line. Everyday that we use to leave that gate you didnt know if it was your last time you'll ever see anyone again, or if you will live to see another day. Was i scared? Damn str8. if anyone that has been over there tells you they werent scared they are full of sh!t. When you first get attacked, thats when you will know who will buckle under pressure and who can handle it. We had a few guys that froze. me, i knew wtf i had to do and there wasnt anyone/anything that was going to sto pme from coming home. i had the mind set that i could/would kill anything that was going to get in my way and stop me from coming home and seeing my wife. Over there, there are some sick people. they attache bombs to they're kids thinking that we wouldnt shoot them. if it came down to it would you be able to? i would. wana know why? over there its either your life or theirs. I didnt trust anyone who didnt speak english (besides the chinese and other people helping the cause). Luckly when i was over there we didnt loose anyone. We all went through training together, went through hell and everyone came back safe and sound. Just remember one thing. When your sleeping at night, people like me are fighting to keep you alive. Well thats my story and thats who i am. Thanks for reading. --Jason--
