Now this is cause for argument amongst my mates after a few chardonnays. Who should play Master Chief? Our arguments range from body actor to face actor, reveal or no reveal, pissy bitching to someone getting an ambulance on standby. I have always said the face should belong to the one and only Ron Perlman, with a fair bit of prosthetic scarring, as he looks like he's seen the business end of a good kicking more than once. A (dumb) friend of mine says he wants the chief reveal to be a young guy like Ashton bloody Kutcher, or that pinch of snuff who played Frodo in the Rings. He thinks it would be 'proper creative, and a big surprise'. Damn right, it would surprise my foot up someones ass. As for the body, I dunno, gotta be tall, but be able to move like the wind. A wrestler maybe? Hell, I'd even say Perlman again, he can play Hellboy, how much bigger can you get?
What would you have them do with the chief? Keep his lid on, or stick Tom Cruise in there? And don't worry, nobodys suggestion could be as laughable as Jessica Alba as Sue Storm. Poor girl looked like a barbie doll that had been dipped in bleach and left in the sun.

Personally, anyone could play the role if they never showed their face since they really don't have to worry about facial expressions. The only thing that they would need would be a decent deep voice to make that bad ass voice. If they did show the face then I would say someone that looks like they are in their 30's just so that they don't look too old but not too young.
Ashton Kutcher would most defiently not be good as MC. In my opinion Ron Perlman isn't a good one either just cause he looks too old. I don't think a wrestler would be good just cause they are too big. MC should be an average size person. Tom Cruise just doesn't fit either.
In my opinion I believe Matt Damon would be a pretty good MC. Just because I've seen several movies he was in like Saving Private Ryan and the Jason Bourne Trilogy. The only thing would be that he needs to deepen his voice a little but otherwise I think he would be pretty good for the role.

Matt Damon got thrown in once or twice, but he's too short, Chief's like 7 or 8 feet tall, right? And I personally think they should keep his face hidden an use the game voice, but you know Hollywood, they're gonna have to pull a Judge Dredd. I just figured a wrestler or some other athlete coz they could pull off the height thing and keep up with the action. Obviously not one of those huge freaks, but maybe a medium sized one. And if they use the game fella's voice, that would keep their acting to a minimum. Just waving their arms and nodding a lot like a Power Ranger, haha!
In an ideal world, they'd keep him completely under wraps, just like the games, but a film like this will have every tom, dick and harry knocking on the door, and a studio will try to exploit star power to boost numbers. It has the earning potential of the Harry Potter series, but with more cool points. We'll probably see Ant and Dec turn up as flood spores. They're british TV tossers.
And you're probably right about Perlman, but I just think he's an awesome actor, an has an awesome 'seen-the -wars' face. Like 6 lbs of melted cheese.

I don't think that they would get someone that was 7 or 8 feet tall just cause that is way too damn tall. Plus, MC would look funny as hell (everyone look at the lanky ass MC). I mean he would look a lot more like he played basketball then fight on a battlefield. I still don't think a wrestler would be good cause they are so big (width wise, not height) and then you add on the armor and what we have is a fat/bloated MC (since they can't see the muscle behind the armor).
Height really doesn't matter 'cause it's "Hollywood". I mean they could make a 5 foot 9 person look like they are 6+ feet tall (computer wise or costume wise). I have a feeling they won't reveal who it is but have parts where you think you'll see who it is but don't actually see their face. Like on Charlie's Angels when they film the back part of the head of the actor Charlie on the beach. It really doesn't matter if they show who it is because we'll see who it was in the credits anyway so...

I just read somewhere that he was 7 feet tall as a result of all the genetic manipulation and cyber enhancements and stuff needed to make him what he is. And when you consider an elite is almost 9 feet tall at full stretch, then he's gotta look like he has half a chance against one. He definitely can't be just a guy in a different uniform, coz that would seem more like it was the suit making him what he is, rather than him. And body-wise, obviously I don't mean those giant sized meat-heads like Kane and Undertaker, just someone with an action background, and a physical presence. And the armour wouldn't be proper armour, so it wouldn't add too much size.
Do you reckon they'll get someone to play Cortanna or will they CGI it all?

That's the thing though swalrm. Where in the world will they find 9 foot people to play parts for Elites. I've never seen or heard of 9 foot people and if their are then what are the chances that they have filming experience. I mean it's hard to find 7 foot people but 9 is just insane. Most likely they will get like 6 foot 9 and above to do the Elite parts and probably between 6 foot 2 and 6 foot 5 for MC. The Marines will probably be in the 5 foot 9 area. Like I said before, most likely they'll customize the costumes to make the people look taller. I just don't think that they would get a wrestler to do a movie at such a high caliber. IMO wrestlers are just not that good at acting in movies. The only one that I would say that was a decent actor was "The Rock". All the others are just not that convincing. I'm not really sure about Cortanna. I'd say CGI just cause Cortanna is not a real person and is just basicly a computer chip.
