Hockey Playoffs Start Wednesday

Alright so hockey is the red headed step child of professional sports. That's only because some people can't follow the puck on TV. IMO it's the best b/c it's fast, tough, skilled and played on razor sharp knifes.

This year the west was the best and I think the ultimate champion will be from that conference. Look out for the San Jose Sharks. They made some moves at the trade deadline and have been on fire since. My team is the Anaheim Ducks (I'm from So Cal after all) and they have had the best record in hockey since Teemu Selane returned to the team in February. They have a great defense and goal tender worthy of the vezina trophy. Their problem has been goal scoring (20th in the league) so we'll see. Detroit once again lead the league in points but I expect they'll lose in the second round. They're just to old, trust me I know what it's like to be an old guy playing a young guy's game. I do think that one of these three teams will represent the west.

I didn't follow the eastern conference very closely (I'm a homer) so I don't have any predictions. I would like to see Montreal take the east only because I know a guy from there and it would be fun to smack talk him if they do. Sadly Hunter I don't New Jersey has enough to get passed the second round at best. Brodeur just can't do it alone.

I will say that the Devils this year have relied too much on Brodeur, seems only casual. Finally we beat the Rangers and then we get them first round, although a win may have boasted their confidence.

I don't know, I think we can win the first round, and I think the second round we would play the winner of the Montreal Boston series.

I'm a Ranger fan so finally losing to the Devils was tough. I was really looking forward to the home ice advantage. As always, the playoffs are going to have some intense games in store and I can't wait to see what happens.

Obviously I'm looking at my Rangers to make it all the way, but we'll see. Jagr's been on a roll lately and the team as a whole has started to pick themselves back up and we definitely have the talent to go all the way. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I gotta tell ya, I'm not a Brodeur fan. Never have been. Not just because he's on the Devils but because every time he makes a save he looks like a fish out of water. That, and he gets cocky with his puck handling as was evident tonight on the shorthanded goal. He figured he had time and started getting up to play the puck away all cool-like. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but he seems very cocky on the ice.

But, enough of that. Rangers win! Woo! We'll see you guys Friday :P

Wow what a first night. Three home ice advantages lost and last years rep. from the east shut-out. Though the final score didn't bear it out, San Jose was clearly the better of the two teams. I just hope Calgary can drag them out to seven tough games. I'm pissed off that one of the guys on versus is picking Dallas to beat my team in the first round. I think he's high and expect the Ducks to at least make it to the conference finals. Nice OT win for the Avalanche, Joe Sakic continues to be mister clutch.
