Envy! What's with all this championship round stuff for your sports teams? First the Red Sox win the World Series. Then the Patriots play a perfect season into the Super Bowl (until... well, you know) It's up to the Celtics to make Boston 2 for 3 in championship rounds this year.
The Boston Celtics are the NBA's Eastern Conference champions after finishing with the worst record in that conference last season. The are anchored by the "Big Three" Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett.
Kobe Bryant tries to build on his legacy as he tries to lead the Lakers to another championship.
I've been dying for this matchup all season long!!! Two classic NBA franchises match up in what looks to be a good one.

Celtics 8-2 in Finals vs Lakers. I heard a crazy stat tonight, lakers and celtics account for 30 of 63 or so of finals winners. Thats almost 50%. Celtics have 16 overall and the Lakers have 14 under their belt. Classic match-up.

I'm neutral on who wins. BUT, since I have to say 1, I will choose the LAKERS!!! Why because:
1) I was born in California.
2) My dad was a die hard Laker fan.
3) Boston Baked Beans are disgusting LOL
LAKERS WIN

I hope to god that the Lakers win. I hate Boston sports.
After Paul Pierce's cocky chant "Beat LA!" I want Kobe to rip Pierce a new one.

The Beat LA chant comes from the old days of Bird vs Magic, Pierce was just following the crowd.

That episode was great. What could be better than "Stand and Deliver" mixed with pats cheating. I voted for Boston because thats what my mind says......but my heart says kobe won't lose. Just listening to the guy in the playoffs has made me a believer, he's playing as if he has something to prove.

Boston will win. They got home court and they got alot more desire. Allen, Pierce, Garnett, not to mention some of the veterans on the Celtics like Brown and Casell, I think there experience will win over guys like Walton or Turiaf( who went to college in Spokane where I live so I'm a big fan of his).
I like both teams but the intangibles are on Bostons side= experience, defense, desire.

Not only that but those three all stars without rings (garnett, allen, and pierce) arent going to let one man beat them. They will prob win it there first game back in Boston I think.

I guess I better close the poll before too many people pick Boston. :P
The Lakers had potential to win Game 2. If they would have played defense, they would be sailing to a victory. I mean, no disrespect to the Celtics, but the Lakers made it too easy for them, leaving the basket wide open. And they let a no-name player (Leon Powe) play like a star. The Lakers need to do a better job of defending Paul Pierce. Hell, they can take notes as they watch the Celtics defend Kobe. They can't let Pierce have wide open shots from 3 point range like that.

One thing I've noticed about the playoffs is the 3rd quarter is always the deciding factor. If they would have played half the way they did in the fourth quarter they would have overcome one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history.

NorseForce28
06-09-2008, 05:46 PM
You're absolutely right Mike. The Lakers played like they did not even care about the game. Play some damn defense Lakers. I can tell that Kobe was pissed off at his team. What he realizes now is that he needs to take control when they are down by a huge deficit.
I tell you what, though, the Lakers and fans will be pissed and it will problably come out of the fans on tuesday.
OcR McDohl

Powe aint a no name, just like none of them are no names. thats what happens when you have a bad defensive scheme set up. They forgot that there is other players on the team that are gonna hurt you if you dont pay attention, I read a thousand articles before the series started saying Lakers bench trumps Celtics bench. I guess they were wrong. that being said the lakers are gonna take 2, if not 3 at home, and i guarantee there bench plays better than they played in Boston. But Lakers better figure out how to play teamball (on both sides of the ball) or its gonna be a short series.

I really don't watch basketball but I'm going for Boston just cause I hate Kobe so much. You can go ahead and call me a "Kobe Hater" and I really could care less. What makes me hate him so much is that everyone thinks he is the shit and what I believe got me to hate him is that people say that he is better then JORDAN. Ha, don't make me laugh people. Kobe... better then JORDAN? I think not.:nah:

Yea, no one was better than MJ, IMO. Kobe comes close, LeBron comes close. I'm sometimes tempted to say Magic Johnson was better, but I didn't get to see him play , so i don't have much of a say there.
Good game from Kobe Bryant last night, but on the Celtics side, where the hell was Pierce and Garnett?
