the hitcher

Anybody seen this movie? One of the stupidiest movies i have ever seen. i like a sense of reality in my movies and when a pyscho in a trans am blows up three cop cars and a police helicopter with a revolver I question the sanity of the producers. anybody ever feel like this in movies sometimes?

haha yes, like Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Somehow shooting car tires in that movie makes the engine blow up......news to me.

Okay im talking about mass death...napoleon dynamite was one of the Stupidest things i have ever seen, and it created some stupid sensation...the funny thing was when it came out everyone in my school loved it, not including me, two weeks later everyone said they actually always hated it and only liked it because a couple of the popular kids said they liked it...stupid.

Wow... I was the opposite. I hated Napoleon Dynamite the first time I saw it. For some reason I was persuaded to watch it again (maybe it helped being high) and I loved it. I've since watched it again while not high and I still love it. Ah well :P

Dynamite is stupid, but brilliant, you have to appreciate the humor. like super troopers or monty python and the holy grail.

and yes, mr and mrs smith. they survive a entire force of special team members without a scratch while there in a two man tent. give me a break!

No , no guys, were not talking about movies where there just plain dumb cause there sappy. Im talking about movies where the good guy kills 345 people with a pistol and they got m16's. unplausible, unrealistic movies. There annoying.

They make you say "yes in that situation i would most definetly enter the dark scary house where a body just came out the window with just a pair of shorts"

I cant believe that some producer actually would think some of these movies had a place in the market.

McDohl there is now way you should ever put Super Troopers and Monty Python in the same sentence as Napoleon Dynamite...ever.

And on topic...how about the new Rambo...now that was just too much, although personally i like the transporter movies...that kind of stuff is down my alley in the way it is so out of reality that i like it.

Yeah, stupid action movies can be okay if they set the laws early. Shoot 'Em Up is an example... from the opening scene with the carrot you know it's not going to be at all realistic so you can turn off that little reality filter in your head. The Transport is another example... the laws are set up in the opening chase and from that point you know what to expect (the reasons for the Transporter being a bad film are deeper than the action sequences but that's a debate for another day...).

In terms of fictional reality, I find it easier to believe that Jason Statham can fall off a table, catch a gun behind his back and then shoot the bad guy between the eyes as opposed to Legolas skiing down the trunk of a war elephant. The former had already been established as part of the rules of that reality while the latter had no previous equivalent point of reference (sliding down stone steps on a shield is at least plausible).

Yes, I did just compare the Transporter to Lord of the Rings. :P

Yeah, that elephant bit was cause for argument between me and a LOTR fanboy mate. I know Legolas is supposed to be more nimble, what with him standing on top of snow and such, but surely the elephants trunk would be too rough to slide down. I just think they saw an opportunity to make Legolas a source of matrixy kind of supernatural action and needed an epic finisher. When everyone knows it's all about Gimli.

Transporter sucked because the music was abysmal. Just sounded cheap and lazy.

One film that annoyed me with its rule breaking was Matrix 2. The bit with the ghost twins was ridiculous, their types existence wasn't mentioned previously, and were never heard of again. It felt like they were dumped in there after a visual brain-fart and had the story tacked on later.

OcR McDohl

wow!

1) Legolas sliding down the trunk was a little over the top. What were they thinking?

2) the whole freeway scene in matrix 2 is possibly one of my favorite action scenes ever. i never questioned the twins, never thought to. but as far as maintaining some sort of reality within the movie, you are right. what are they?

3)Gimptactics, your right. If they set the rules early, there good to go, and i was actually gonna say something myself about shoot em up. over the top to the extreme, but per there own rules, its understandable and allowed. carrots=good eyesight. :)

4) the marine also was bad bad bad BUT its one saving point is when one of the bad guys says "who is this guy, the terminator???" and the other guy looks at him in the rear view mirror suspiciosly cause he had played the terminator. i liked that little easter egg. lol

If I remember rightly the twins were supposed to be some kind of custom programming created by that french guy. Like the other ones neo greases in the chateau foyer were all supposed to be vampires and stuff. I just found them dumb, and they had no place in a film about belief overcoming rigid logic.
