Depends what kind of music you're into really.

My essential artists would be:

Slayer
DragonForce
Fall of Troy
Premonitions of War
Little Richard
Jackie Wilson
Frankie Lymon

Every iPod needs 'Long Tall Sally' by Little Richard on there.

I personally like metal, pretty much all types of it. If you like just regular metal then I would try Bullet for my Valentine, I like their song four words. If your into more heavy metal than I would try Arch Enemy or the Haunted, those are some of my favorites.

The Haunted are pretty badass. 99 is an absolute killer of a song.

I have a Death dvd. The front-man is awesome, he can sing while performing guitar solos. Must have 2 brains.

You're right about the name though, not very creative. But they do rock!

I personally think rap is junk. They say the same lines over and over again.

I just found out about tons of new music this summer. Of course, my long-standing top three is Modest Mouse, Slightly Stoopid and Lil' Wayne. All of them are great and have so many different amazing songs.

I've been really, really digging The Shins lately. Oh, Inverted World is such a great CD. Also, if you enjoy the Shins, you should check out Neutral Milk Hotel. They are really experimental, but that's part of the reason they are fun to listen to.

For some good electronic/rave/dance music, find some Crystal Castles. I think their CD is called "Crystal Castles," but I'm not sure. Also, DeadMau5, MSTRKRFT, Lotus and Digitalism all have really good dance songs, but that's if you're into that type of stuff.

As far as rap goes, Lil' Wayne is pretty much always a safe bet. 3-peat is sick. However, you need to check out People Under the Stairs and Immortal Technique. When it comes to rap, most of the mainstream rappers are total shit. These guys aren't.

10 years. The best under rated band out there! If you have heard of Three days grace, Breaking Benjamin, and Linkin Park you should check these guys out!

Sounds like I wouldn't like them. Neutral Milk is not so good IMO. Modest Mouse's The moon and antartica is their best album and The Shins are very tight. Oh, Inverted World is amazing! Chutes to Narrow is also a very good album.

The best rapper of all time... 2-pac. He is the only rapper I can listen to.

As I Lay Dying is great too... just discovered them today.

Three Days Grace? Isn't that some kind of Christian garbage?
