Alright, the NFL playoffs are set officially now. Here's the match-ups and my predictions.
NFC
Byes: Giants, Panthers
Wild Card Round
Falcons at Cardinals
Both good turn-around teams. The Cards won a pathetic NFC West and stumbled towards the finish, even though they were playing meaningless games. Still, that's no excuse. Kurt Warner has had a good year, but he's been inconsistant lately. Matt Ryan's a stud, and he's a legit candidate for NFL MVP. Falcons over Cardinals, 42-7.
Eagles at Vikings
The Vikings are a team with no definate starting quarterback, which is usually a bad sign. However, they get away with it quite nicely. Adrian Peterson is unbelievable. I like the Vikings over the Eagles, 36-20.
AFC
Byes: Titans, Steelers
Wild Card Round
Colts at Chargers
No one ever talks about the Colts. They're still an amazing team. Like the Cardinals, the Chargers won a poor division. LT hasn't been his usual self. The Chargers have been a disappointment, despite still making the playoffs. But they'll make it a close game, ultimately falling to Indy. Colts over Chargers, 38-34.
Ravens at Dolphins
Two teams in which I honestly haven't kept a sharp eye on, but I like the Ravens' defense. I think that team is more well-rounded than Miami. I'm not completely sure on this one, but I say Ravens over Dolphins, 20-9.
And if that goes as planned, might as well finish it up...
NFC Divisional Round
Vikings at Giants
Tough call after witnessing the Vikes beat the Giants in the season finale; then again, the Vikings had something to play for in that game, the Giants did not. The Giants really did become a stellar football team after their unforgettable championship run last season. Eli Manning has gained confidence in himself and is having one of the better seasons of the quarterbacks in the NFL. Giants over Vikings, 41-28
Falcons at Panthers
UPSET! That's all I'm going to say here. I might be stupid for saying so, but I feel an upset in this one. With little reasoning and just gut feeling, Falcons over Panters, 23-21.
AFC Divisional Round
Ravens at Titans
Eh, why not? I don't think the Titans are as good as their record implies, but I don't see many ways the Ravens can beat them. Titans over Ravens, 24-14.
Colts at Steelers
I love when these two teams match up. I really don't know who to go with here. But I can't help it. Peyton Manning should win the NFL MVP. I can't say no to Peyton at this point. Colts over Steelers 16-7.
NFC Championship
Falcons at Giants
Atlanta's amazing season ends in New York. Giants return to the Super Bowl to defend their title. Giants over Falcons, 35-13.
AFC Championship
Colts at Titans
Good game. As I said before the Titans aren't as good as they look on paper. They aren't built for a championship run. The Colts are, and have been for the past few years. Colts over Titans, 44-38.
Yea, you could see where I was going with this: an epic, Manning vs Manning showdown in Tampa.
Super Bowl XLIII
Giants vs Colts
The Colts started rough but ended strong. The Giants, the other way around. That scenario favors Indy. The Colts are better on offense. Giants are better on defense. This will be a relatively close game. I don't see a repeat coming for the Giants though. Whatevah... Colts over Giants, 31-21.
So there you go. Ultimately, my Super Bowl champs will be the Colts. This should be a fun postseason to watch.
