I just came back from Scion Rock Festival and wow... my mind was blown. I've seen Mastodon before but this time they played 4 songs from their unreleased album and ****... i'm impressed. If you like Metal, or well written music in general you NEED to check Mastodon out. Their new album Crack the Skye comes out in March and is on the lighter end of their spectrum but is brilliant music. Check out the single Oblivion which is out now.

What I didn't expect from the concert was for Neurosis to be so amazing. They are easily the second best band that I've seen live. They're hard to classify, and kind of weird, but if you're feeling adventurous look them up.

Honorable mention from that concert goes to Torche (stoner metal) Boris (WTF metal) and Kylesa (jam band metal?).

There is not a single bad band mentioned in this thread.

Glad to hear you had fun. Thanks for the update.

I've only seen Mastodon and Torche and both bands RULED! Cool stuff man.

You know I am glad you had fun. I love metal, I personally think it is the most inspirational music. Ok well mainly cuz some of the riffs the Metal bands make up are so BadAss, I mean I listen to them and play them over and over and I still love them the same as the first time I heard them. Also I heard Mastodan, I like there music pretty BadAss as well. I'm just more into Bands with Breakdowns and stuff.

I can't wait for this Band's Album, its gonna be Super Badass( You gotta listen to When Children Become Sidewalks>:], its at 2:35 ****en BadAss to the Max Baby!!!!!)

Also I just found this band today. Super BadAss, I want to learn this song too. I just can't find it anyway. (This video is pretty Gruesome, so Emo Lovers watch out. You might get a Heart Attact lol)

I really wanna see Mastadon, but not many bands come round where I live. Every time I hear Blood & Thunder I just wanna go nuts! I'll look up those other bands when I'm at work, I'm always on the lookout for new music. Glad they rocked your face off Cracker!

that song was pretty good, i dont get the video though. were they trying to promote animal slaughtering or was it like one of those PETA commercials where they show all that stuff to deter people from eating meat? if they were just trying to be hard and gruesome it was a pretty lame attempt. i mean how tough do you have to be to slaughter a defenseless animal? either way the end was pretty funny. you want some brutal music listen to the Acacia Strain. breakdowns galore.

As far as breakdowns go I think that Meshuggah is ****ing nuts. I don't understand how their drummer can play those multiple time signatures and tempos at once. Clearly he is a robot. In particular the foot pattern to Bleed is WTF if there are any drummers out there who want to take a stab at it.

My favorite of their songs is probably New Millennium Cyanide Christ. Of course I also find the video hilarious. Especially their mean mugging drummer.
