My current favorite breakdown is Parkway Drive's - Boneyard
Parkway Drive's - Boneyard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tptChkpxMoQ)
Start it right at 2:19, it contains a breakdown/chant, then guess what (?) another breakdown.
Brutal.
Got a better breakdown, post it.

bastard set of dreams by dead to fall.
Local band? It sounds so good, but not main stream.
I like how the breakdown actually breaks up the style of music.
Dead To Fall - Bastard Set Of Dreams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oyEI7hyJwc)
It's at 2:39.

No good breakdowns.
HOWEVER if you want über BRUTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I got brutal
(Warning: This is a new genre, it may **** your face off with the brutality. And yes that is the song name.)
Torsofuck - ***** By Elephants (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JblFx1aXpeU)
It's a fairly new genre, called goregrind or porngrind. It's beyond brutal.
I got brutal bro. ;)

That last one sounded boring, when did metal get so slow? It's like someone got Cannibal Corpse stoned and they just had a nice relaxing jam session, haha!
When it comes to melting your face off, you can't go wrong with The Berzerker. They're fast as lightning, and they use a blast-bass kinda thing that blows your brains out through headphones. Video doesn't do them justice though, worth tracking down on CD or MP3 for the full effect.

Is that what passes for music these days? :P I'll take a lyricist over a breakdown any day. Even if I don't agree with his opinions, this guy is still one of my all time favourite urban poets. From 1995:

no good breakdowns in the songs i posted??? wowww. idk about that. grindcore mostly sucks btw, there are a few good bands out there, but most of them sound exactly the same.
oh and OcR Rabbit, is it the genres you find uninteresting??, or the bands/songs themselves? cuz if you dont like that type of music, obviousely its gonna sound terrible to you.
btw xthe breakdownx, if you havent heard of Waking the Cadaver they are a nice grind/metal blend. check this video out (note: these arent the actual lyrics or the actual video to the song) its hilarious though.

Couldn't give you rep Lateralus, but those are some sweet bands! No. 12..., Locust and Blood Brothers were my soundtrack for like 3 years working in factories! Kinda jazzy, broken tempos helped with the repetative machine noise. Stopped me going insane! Haven't listened to any of them in a while now. Fall of Troy were pretty good too, used to listen to them a lot. Can't find any youtube vids though, my home computer doesn't seem to like the site.

Thanks Horror! I adore The Number 12, I find it quite a nice change from the horrible crap that passes for metal now-a-days. (no offense Breakdown) Love the fall of troy as well. My friend got a picture with the lead singer when they came to Toronto:)
