Whats up guys? My uncle and a childhood friend of his started working on a film last year that they call Minus 8. There have been a ton of setbacks but they say they should be done by next year. I paintball with most of the cast and crew but don't feel obligated to like it lol. Here is the trailer for it. Hope you enjoy: http://www.cymbalski.ca/m8/

That's cool. Why is the preview for restricted audiences? I didn't see or hear anything that should make it too graphic for all audiences...

Agh, my girlfriends failtastic laptop can't play this video. I'll definitely look at it tomorrow though, I know Gimp's a man of taste, so it must look good!

So does he make proper studio funded affairs or is he one of those guys who make films bit by bit when he has time?

Well that is one of the setbacks. They had a producer that was financing the entire movie, but it turned out he was nailed for fraud about 6 months after the filming took place. Luckily My uncle and the crew didn't have to pay back the money they were given. But they don't have a producer anymore.

UPDATE

Okiedoke guys this thread is as old as the hills but I'm reviving it for some big news about the film instead of making a new one.

So when we last left off the movie had gone under: Their producer left them, they had no money and no option left but to walk away. Until now that is.

A month or two ago they were approached by a new producer who had read the script and loved it so he put up the cash for 250 000$. This gave them start up money so they went out and did some more shooting. Then a couple of weeks ago, a distributing company found them via the Toronto International Film festival. He liked the clips that he saw and they are now in talks. The contract that is on the table agrees to match the 250 000$ put up by the producer giving the guys 500 000$. Along with the money they will distribute the film and try to sell it once it is complete. They are just waiting on the script and if they like it, the contract is signed.

This is where I come in. I had been bugging my uncle for a while to help with the film and they've finally decided to let me in; I will be helping the two main writers (My uncle Sean McAulay and his friend Neil) do final clean ups and revisions before the script goes in sometime next week.

Here is the link to the trailer: http://www.cymbalski.ca/m8/teaser.html

And here is the link to the film clip: http://www.cymbalski.ca/m8/exclusive.html

So am I gloating, kind of but I figured I'd keep you updated.

EDIT: I'm almost positive they fired the main actor (bloody guy in chair) so don't complain about the acting. We know.

I can't believe I just saw this thread now. That looks awesome man. You're so lucky to be helping out on making a movie and one that looks like it will be a hit too. However, what is the movie supposed to be, horror or action? The trailer seemed more like a horror but the clip was more like an action type clip. Well, I hope the contract goes through so your uncle can finish the movie cause it looks sweet.

Man, this looks to have some great potential. It reminds me of a movie/show I saw on SciFi a while back...Only they were scientists who kept going missing, and these two paratroopers dropped in right before a huge blizzard to protect them or something. Might have been X-Files...Either way dude, that's awesome you get to be a part of it.
