On Saturday, May 30th, Outcast Royale took on UGC Phoinix in an mlg best of 5 series. Nova was at work, so Doom gladly filled the spot, props to OcR Sombra as well, he was willing to fill in for braaterz had he not shown up.

Game 1: MLG Slayer on Construct
[game=1159481586]
Well, for starters, this game was supposed to be Construct King, none the less, OcR pushed hard for top control. We controlled the purples very nicely along with rockets. I feel that since we did not push for custom very often, that it helped us maintain top control. Props to Doom for going big on construct. UGC showed high spirits in the opening, but OcR holding down top purple prevailed in the end.
Outcome: OcR Wins 50-30
Game 2: MLG Multi Flag on Onslaught
[game=1159492252]
If you notice, the game was only to three caps, the other team set up the game and the lot of us didn’t realize that it was only 3 caps till we got the third cap. A little misunderstanding of the game type, but nevertheless, our opening push was well coordinated, we set up, pulled flag and scored. Not much slaying went on this game. I say that moose and braaterz did a very good job of staying up top and providing cover fire for myself and doom. UGC fought hard to stop the OcR Setup, but on Onslaught, setup is token.
Outcome: OcR Wins 3-0
Game 3: MLG Multi-Flag on The Pit
[game=1159519434]
This was the longest and most hard fought game of our scrim in my opinion, both teams came out shooting after the short previous game. OcR struck first getting the first flag cap, but UGC wasn’t gonna lay down, they fought hard and earned one of their own flag captures. Battling went back and forth for a good while, OcR decided to push once the power weapons spawned, and it worked to a success, with killing 3 members of UGC, the 2nd flag cap was homebound for OcR. The third flag cap followed shortly there after. Congrats to OcR for a very team based game, probably our best teamwork throughout the night.
Outcome : OcR Wins 3-1
Game 4: MLG Team Slayer on Narrows
[game=1159533106]
Even though the series was “over” , OcR and UGC wanted to play some games for practice and fun.
OcR started out pushing hard top mid, nade bouncing the left and right pockets and gaining the lead off of it. Once we had control of their pockets, braaterz and doom stormed the base and almost had the overkill, but earned himself a pretty silver triple medal. After that raid, we had our snipe up top and the rockets roaming around, moose and myself were playing support in the pockets. UGC had a good idea with going around behind our setup, but with the good teamwork and communication of the 4 of us, we counter-played their strategy. Congrats to Braaterz on going huge here.
Outcome : OcR Wins 50-28
Game 5 : MLG Ball on Lockdown.
[game=1159561761]
Since this game type gave us so much trouble when we played AoR a few weeks back, we decided to give it a go and try to find a good setup. From what I saw from the match, we had a hard time holding down Plasma Tower, not so much carbine, but I always seemed to look at P tower just to find it empty. In future scrims, I’d like to see more of p tower action out of us. On another note, Against teams in the future, we need to work on holding our set up, this game wasn’t in the original scheduled, so we didn’t run through it. We had great team work in the end, we finished each other’s kills and team shot very well in my opinion.
Outcome: OcR Wins 250-106
Overall, OcR takes series 5-0 (3-0 if you want to get technical) Good games to UGC Phoinix Kaos, who were really good sports during the scrimmage. Hopefully we can do this again sometime! This was a learning experience for both teams. As for our MVP, I don’t feel that any certain individual player deserves it, we all played extremely well as a team, so Im giving MVP to each of our players( yes, this includes you too Doom).
I enjoyed our first scrim ever, however, I feel that there is much to be worked on. + + + + rep to OcR Doom for subbing in on such short notice.
OcR Nighthawk,
Royale Strategist and team 2 leader
P.S. I feel that these two separate teams are starting to come through.
