Any other golfers out there? I'm crazy about the game every since my dad stuck a club in my hand at the early age of 5. Now over 15 years later I'm proud to boast a 1 handicap! Just wondering if there are others here at OcR that share the same love for the game that I do!

I fail at bowling... My best ever was a 200 on the money, which is my best by about 20-25

I love golfing, I do it just for fun though. Pretty much every weekend I go golfing during the summer, I'm not the best but if I played more, I could probably be pretty damn good ha.

I used to golf regularly with my uncles after my dad died. I stopped for a while but still go on occasion. I mostly hit up the driving range these days.

I can putt amazingly well and I used to be able to drive decently. However, my irons and short game are terrible...granted I really don't play that often at all (maybe 5 times in my life) so I'm not expecting much. :P

I used to golf all the time I was on my schools golf team, but after high school I slowed down to about 6 to 10 times per year. It sucks but I just have a lot of other crap I have to do. Me and my dad used to golf quite a bit with one of his friends who is a scratch golfer and his kid who is also pretty freaking good.

I enjoy golf although I'm not very good at it: Tennis is my sport. If it wasn't for MMA I'd have the sporting taste of a 60 year old.

I've started to golf again and got my first birdie in like 4 years the other day. It's funny, what Rocketr said he sucked at is what I'm best at. My short game is pro, but getting off thee tee kinda sucks sometimes. My problem is I can't help myself from trying to crush the ball like a freakin gorilla, and since I have graphite shafts the heads of my clubs don't keep up with the swing, so wicked slice. I've been trying to get my dad to kick his old steel shaft Pings my way, but he's been holding on to them for using when I visit him

Oh, I know how it is COR when you want to just let loose on the drive. I used to do that because I wanted to crush the ball, but if you concentrate on just getting a smooth swing with good contact, you can hit it pretty dang far.

It is more likely that you are pulling across the ball on your downswing as opposed to the clubhead not being able to catch up. Even if you swing like a gorilla a regular flex shaft will not cause you to slice it. I fact it is more likely to cause a hook because the shaft bends too early in the downswing and then straightens out before contact rather than at the contact point. You most likely are coming over the top, try swinging on an inside to outside path (on the downswing) the next time you make it to a driving range.
... I guess Dan's Golf Academy is open for business, I'll start a new thread about it.
