Alright so I happen to a die-hard Red Sox fan, anyone else? Do you actually watch the games or are you the person that watches the highlights on SportsCenter? It's all good, baseball is baseball.

i don't follow mlb but i watch every olympic or world baseball classic game that's on

something about country pride makes baseball more interesting, rather than paycheques

I'm a die hard Phillies fan. Last year (and this year so far) have been soooo baddass!!

My wife is a yankees fan and he friend is a RedSox fan... talk about LAME when those two are watching baseball together...

watching the clips on sportcenter is a MUST... but if the game is on and i catch it... i tend to keep it on... or at least flip back and forth between that and Family Guy or something

You speak truth Rabbit; nothing better than playing for pride and respect rather than a salary. Louie who is a Red Sox fan? Your wife is a Yank's fan, but who's the Red Sox fan? The Phillies deserved that title last year, and thank God that they won. If the Rays won, I don't know what I would have done. They had a great chemistry and their pitching staff was phenomenal. The highlights on SC are always one of my favorites when I'm hoppin' into bed as well :jiggy:

i am a huge sports buff (atleast i like to think i am) and i follow most sports including: basketball (college and pro), football (college and pro), hockey, and soccer. but i do not really follow baseball. i do watch highlights on sc and my favorite teams are rangers in al and cardinals in nl, but im not a huge fan of the sport.

Ah that's too bad, America's Pastime is ftw. I'm not a big hockey guy myself, even though the B's were pretty insane last year (though it ended in disappointment). The Rangers are a real good club and the Cards need to pull themselves together otherwise they won't be in the race long.

Everyone around me is too, I see a lot of alcohol induced fights between mets-phillies fans up around my school it's funny(in NJ but about 15 minutes from NY). I was at the parade when they won last year it was a good time, managed to get within 10 feet of the bus that had all the players on it after me and some friends maneuvered through the sea of people.

I used to play very competitively (this kid Bill Rowell may go pro they say good things about him, he is in AAA right now..not doing so hot though, when we were 15 we played in an 18-19 yr summer team together he was a beast) until I tore a ligament in my shoulder so I don't watch baseball much playing was so much better, I follow it a little. I'm not a fan of any team I like players I love watching Zito his curve is dirty, my favorite pitcher is Wakefield -knuckle-ball is pure win. Being in Philly I think they're looking pretty good this year the fans are die-hard they love them. Favorite Philly is Madson he has his off-days but the dude has good stuff that curve has a sharp bite. And Howard with that shift?...you could half-ass a bunt down the 3rd base line and at least get some ground-balls opposite way, I'm surprised coaches haven't worked on that if he started putting some balls down the line that could catch the other team off guard in a clutch situation.

Yeah I know what you mean Awon. Playing is a hell of a lot better than sitting in the stands. Wake is one of my favorite all time pitcher, and probably the greatest active knuckle-baller in the game (when he keeps it down).

I'm an Orioles fan..so you are half of the reason we suck every year, along with the Yankees. Can't you guys just not spend money ONE offseason? haha..but the Youk thing was funny, he got owned by that pitcher

Haha. Honestly, the Red Sox don't spend all that much money. They have one of the best if not the best farm systems in the big leagues. Pedroia, Ellsbury, Youkilis, Reddick, Bard, Papelbon, and formerly Masterson (sad to see him leave) all homegrown players. But yes, Youkilis wasn't using his head when he charged the mound. He's a big guy, and if he threw a punch that kid would be in the hospital, but Youk would have a much longer suspension than he does now (5 games).

They'll be back big very soon in the next few years, trust me. They have some pretty good bats in that lineup, and their pitching is young right now, but they are learning. Give it time, and you'll see a very good Orioles team in the next 2-5 years.

Lol, well look at their bats bro. I just checked up on their stats and what do you know, they're batting .270 as a team, good for 4th overall in the AL. That, by the way, is 4 spots above the Red Sox, and 2 spots above the Rays. Their pitching though, like I said again, is coming along slowly. It's second to last in the AL with a 5.09 ERA. But hey, that rookie starter, Bergesen, looks like he could end up being pretty good once he gets a feel for the Majors and the AL hitters. And Daniel Hernandez (David?Daniel?) is another rookie who looks to be pretty promising with experience. So the hitting is pretty well up there, it's the pitching that gives the runs away, and thus diminishes a lot of morale.

And the Sox won one of the most historic (if not the most historic) titles in baseball that year. Why hate the Sox?

I hate the white sox because my 10th grade teacher loved them. When they won the world series she gave us a shit load of homework. As well as when the heels won the NCAA Championship over illinois. I wanted to commit suicide that week.

I root for the marlins because their minor league team is the mudcats which play right up the street from me.

I would've thought that she'd give you less because she would have been glad they won...Eh, teachers will do anything to kick you in the ass one more time though. I'm not too fond of the White Sox either. Mark Buerhle though (however the hell you spell his name) is one of the greatest pitchers to watch.

the use of money to make your team better is not the ways sports should be played. the NFL has it all right with the salary cap which creates parity (any team can beat anyone if the organization is doing things right). the teams like the red sox, yankees, and mets kill baseball with over the top spending

I think you should look into your accusations a bit more closely there Jest3r...The Red Sox have one of the best farm systems in the major leagues. They produce home grown talent. And if they end up spending money to keep their home grown talent, then why not? True, they DO make some blockbuster trades, just like any other top team in baseball. But they are not going out and buying all stars like the Yankees.

OK OK I am going to get some poo flung at me, but my wife is in love with the Yankees, she knows all the history on them, so its not a Jeter thing. I am a Mariners fan and a Cubs fan since I was a kid...I watch alot of Mariner games just to see Ichiro get hits and see King Felix hurl that ball. I can't wait to go up to Seattle and watch a game in person.

Ichiro is a fun player to watch too. I wouldn't be surprised if his stance is duplicated with success in the future but of course duplicating stance is just that, skill is on the player. I started switch hitting to lefty around 13 and depending on the situation would mimic his stance. I thought the stance helped when trying to aim for infield holes or outfield gaps drop bunts and stay on off-speed pitches...watching the curving line drives he hits the other way is cool too.

I used to watch Scott Rolen all the time too he had a real solid swing.

He can crush the ball if he wants to. Rolen was great when he was in his prime, but more-over he has an astounding glove. What does he have...6 Gold Gloves? 8? Somewhere around there.

Dice K, Beckett, Bay, V Mart, J.D Drew, Lowell, Penny, and Alex Gonzalez are all not homegrown. Even if say a team like the reds had really good farm talent they couldnt afford to keep it for too long. I dont care where the players come from the fact of the matter is that the Red Sox spend a lot of money no matter what and teams like the reds are unable to keep up. thats why i hate them.

'97 NL rookie of the year, on the Phillies. was SUPPOSED to be the second coming of Mike Schimdt... then he left =*(
still a great defensive player, but his batting avg has slupped over the past 5 yrs... haven't really thought about it... but he's been in the bigs for 12 yrs.... yikes
