View Full Version : I...*tears* hold the objective....

Without even realizing I was. I play alot of demo, and I will give them a round or two to get some more time in, and I figured all was good. Just now I played with Halfbreed, and he brought to my attention that I was holding the objective. After explaining how this could be considered holding the objective, "Well, you're not doing your job as defense", I realized, well hell, it is.
Any other quick examples of holding the objective in certain gametypes? I figured it wasn't because technically, we would let them win, but it makes sense. Wondering if I do it in anything else O_o
Like in Domination, if you hold two flags, and trap them at one, isn't that technically holding it? Shouldn't you have to "Dominate" them, as the title says? Just curious, and I apologize for "holdin' dat shit". :P

I would say no to that actually, because holding only 2 is a much easier way to win, giving you more control. You are still actively trying to win, just making sure you do by going a tad slower.

holding 2 doms is playing the objective
even if you are killing the crap out of them, it's still a legitimate strategy because not only are you getting points for the win, but you are keeping them contained so it is easier to defend
3 doms is chaotic and frankly not the most efficient way of playing

When you tell us not to plant the bomb in sabotage, so you can call in your whatever it was, thats holding it. Also, when you say let them plant the bomb, that continues the game, so thats holding the objective. "Letting the other team win" is not something I enjoy doing, so when we are playing, I don't expect to hear that.

Fair enough. I don't plan on continuing this in demo anyway, or even playing demo. Or even playing CoD. I'm getting kind of bored of it. Might go back and forth between MW2 TDM, and Halo's Doubles and Slayer.

Lol, yeah valto, I know I can rage quite a bit XD
Believe it or not, I never used to rage. It only began happening recently, while trying to run the nuke/High killstreaks. 63 nukes later, and I am still raging.
I will try and go back to 3-4-5 KS :P

with dom it a strategy to hold 2 flag so you can control the spawns, its part of protecting the 2 flags you have.

Well said. It's simple really. Just try your ass off each round (tryhard comes to mind; not a bad word in my opinion); the only way they should win is because of mistakes lack of communication or skill. When you lose intentionally, that 9 times out of 10 is not going to be cool with whoever you're partied up with here in OcR.

I'm going to say that will not be accepted period. You don't play to lose the game. Period. "You play to win the game."

Chris I thought I brought this up before you applied...we don't tolerate this kind of stuff. Now that it's been clarified, I don't expect to hear about this again. People make mistakes and Im glad you brought this to our attention. This shows you are trying to change your ways and it was very honest and mature to admit this.

IN domination i tend to hold 2 at a time. but at that time i always push thier base hard so that we can get another cap. i dnt like holding just 2 of them. its gets more mayhemic (Fun) if ur fighting everywhere

Not pushing for the objective in demolition or sabotage and prolonging the game to get more kills is shitty and cheap. If we have the opportunity to win a sabotage game in a minute we do it. We don't hold the bomb so we can get kill streaks.

How could one hold an objective if one doesn't go for said objective?
