What are your opinions on this laptop? I'm really thinking about getting it. It's really nice. (IMO)

That's a pretty solid rig, but what happened to those that I showed you at Best Buy so you could use your gift card? :P

The Lenovo's hard drive isn't the fastest, but it's easily upgraded later and you probably won't be able to tell much of a difference between it and a 7200rpm drive unless you upgraded to an SSD (much more expensive). If you want it, go for it.

The processor was i5 and my friend suggested an i7 processor. Also, I figured I'll use the best buy to preorder reach instead. :)

The i7 is way more than you need if you're not gaming or video work. i5 will net you better battery life with no noticeable performance drop, but either way you can't really go wrong.

Well. Me friend assumed that I'd be playing Diablo 3 when it came out so that's probably why he suggested it. He said the orange rim is really *** looking though.

If that little bit of orange is really a deal breaker then I can't help you :P

Man, your parents are dishing out 900 bucks for you, consider yourself lucky and forget about the damn orange trim.

Err. I saw two other laptops that I might have interest in.

http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SYCTOProcess?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921666180154&categoryId=8198552921644692000

For this one, I think the only upgrade I would do is the LED backlight for the keyboard so the ending price would be $1,100. (That's including tax.)

For this one, I think I would only do the Lava Black color. Which is $50 more. The ending price would be about $800.

I need your intake on these two?

Graphics will be lacking severely on the second option you proposed.

I still would personally go for the Lenovo for $1000 with the options that it comes with. Lenovo makes quality laptops (as well does Sony but often at a premium that's not always worth it).

Obviously you need to go with the i7 hands down, im sure you got a few things you need to compensate for :P

Which i7? The Sony or the Lenovo?

The Lenovo looks pretty solid for the price. If it were me tho I would be uninstalling windows and putting Linux on it as soon as it arrived at my house, love me some Linux on my laptops. I would not reccomend that for you tho, no real need nor demand to.

But yea, Lenovo
