I was just pondering today while I was pulling in 2000 feet of cable about the technology changes since I was groing up. Maybe it is not a really big suprise seeing how my 8th grade graduating class was 20 kids.

Here is a perspective from my life feel free to share your own this might sound like I am ancient to some of you younger guys but I will be 24 in about 2 weeks. Here it goes:

10 years old- Got my first video game system an Atari Pong was my favorite Pitfall was a close second

6th grade-My grade school finally upgraded there commodore and apple computers around this time as well to gateways. Actually it was until about 4th grade when I used my first computer.

Also family bought first computer an IBM with an operating system that is no longer in existence It was called Menu Matic.

8th grade- Mom and dad bought a satellite finally (I had 3 channels my whole life up to this point NBC, FOX, ABC, and on a really clear day CBS)

Finally got the internet at this time as well a blazing 26.6l connection which my parents still have and pay for, DSL and cable is still not available in the sticks "where men are men and sheep are scared"

6th grade-High School- Got hooked on video games and bought about every system known to man and played it and sold it (includes every system I think there was Sega CD, Sega 32X, Jaguar, 3DO, JVC Xeye, and some other systems you never knew existed, I gamed in high school like acrack junkie while still maintaining a social life and partying like a rock star

20- bought my house and upgraded myself to DSL what a difference and also purchased xbox live what a great thing

23- complete HDTV w/ 7.1 surround sound system, Toshiba HD DVD player, Dish Network Dual Tuner DVR HD receiver and programming (Anyone see a considerable change)

Today-thinking about having a baby soon and gaming while wife is playing a 360 behind me. Come a long way in a short time huh.

Yeah the rate at which technology is advancing is fucking insane.

I'm only 16, but here's just a short timeline.

My family had a Windows 95 when I was about 7, but it broke and my parents know nothing about computers, so naturally we threw it away.

3rd grade- I got a gameboy color as my first gaming system, followed shortly by N64. I was a pokemaniac

6th grade- My parents bought the first computer where I could actually gain something by using it. It was the very first gateway to have XP on it and the specs were: 15 Gig HD, 256 Meg ram, built in video card and a 1.2 Gigahertz processor.

8th grade- Got Xbox/Xbox Live with wireless internet. I also (unbelievably) talked my parents into getting our 2nd computer: a Dell XPS with 500 Gig HD, 2 Gig Ram, 256 Meg Video card and 3.4 Gigahertz processor- a GIGANTIC improvement from my first computer.

I have never had cable TV, but always had cable internet. I get 4 channels: CBS, ABC, FOX and NBC. It really doesn't bother me because I'm not a big TV watcher anyway.

Yeah technology has grown greatly and I've noticed it as well throughout my 19 years of life. I won't give a complete timeline but from Nintendo to Xbox 360, Windows 95 to Windows XP, Cassette Player to Ipod, No cell phones to Razors, Regular TV to HDTV, Standard calculators to TI-89's, wired phones to wireless phones, and countless others. Technology has grown significantly. Just think though, in some countries they've never even heard of some of the things that we own. We're lucky.
