bs angel, a member of TTL and the Cavegirls, has an interesting gaming blog and I was asked to write an article on it.
Please take the time to read it and leave a comment if you like the ideas. The more responses from different communites; the better of a chance these ideas will be implemented into Halo 3.

Nice writeup, great idea. I hope Bungie reads and listens to everything you've said.

Having the option to boot a suicide deranker wont stop deranking it will just make it more frustrating, if someone wants to derank all they have to do is run at the other team over and over again theres really nothing you can do to stop that as far as I know. I don't care, I just quit with a deranker on my team. I think there is a better chance to find one, maybe even two fun games in the time it would have taken to play out a frustrating not fun game with a deranker.
Great suggestions for clans though, I always wished they were more than a second FL for h2, after clanmatch got taken away and everything.

Thanks very much Envy. Just keep the comments coming. :)
(I guess they need to be approved first, so when bs angel gets back from her day trip they should go up tomorrow.)
A1: Running at the other team over and over again would be the only possible way to delevel effeciently then. This would be difficult since a lot of the time people end up spawning far away from the other team.
The long run out there would discourage many players from doing so rather than simply jumping off the edge of a map or looking down and throwing a grenade.
It's just removing one less way to be an asshat.

Yeah thats true, but if people want to be an asshat I think they will always find a way. At higher levels if you give up a power weapon intentionally etc. that could ruin the game for your team. I've also had games where my team will be winning and something comes up in real life that I have to deal with, so I leave for a few minutes and come back to see the game is either really close or we are now losing, so one person trying to lose can probably do that a bunch of ways aside from suicide.
No really they were good ideas and everything, I was just in synical pessimistic mode this morning hah.
Personally I always thought having 'police' would be a good idea. I realize it's a massive population and everything, but look at the real world. I can go out to a highschool sports event and sell raffle tickets than just split with the money, or go out and jack a car with a screwdriver and a hammer then drive over to a chop shop. I don't because I don't want to be an asshole anymore, and because while the chances of me getting caught are slim, they are there and I know they are there. Sure the small population (compared to every citizen) of law enforcement has help from loyal citizens, but the fact is still there that while many people realize they can do something wrong, even if they have no moral objections they don't do it because the risk of getting caught no matter how small is still there...
Even if you only have a small population of trust worthy people out playing games and punishing trashtalkers, derankers, cheaters, etc. I think it would make a significant dent and make people think twice before they run their mouth or go out of their way to ruin the game for others. Someone can go into a game and get the flag then sit with it near the score point making sudden death last forever, tons of people can senselessly trashtalk without punishment and so on. If 1 out of every 200 games had an official 'officer' there to punish anyone who does it, even though the risk of getting caught may be small I think it would really deter people from doing stuff like that. As long as you can derank by running around in circles or throwing the flag off a cliff, away from the score point and so on I don't think anything else can really be done. I don't see that ever happening though because I think it could be to much of an effort for something that may not be effective, and something easier and automated could possibly curb foul play just as effectively.
Damn that was way longer than I expected.

well, im sure that a lot of people have had the same ideas, like the capability to boot fags that kill themselves and so on.
but i agree with what A1 and what the blog was about even though you can only get so far with such a massive online game.

There were some good ideas in the post and I think most of them would work. I like the one about the overlords.
