test
Many people in OcR know me as one of the few MLG ‘Fanatics’, who knows alot about MLG games and how to win at then, etc. etc. But out of all the things I’ve done with MLG, the one thing I haven’t done, is do an event. Well, that has certainly changed. I personally attended the MLG Orlando FFA, and yeah, I DIDN’T get eliminated first round (Take that Cynical Trojan!). Anyways, after leaving school early to have my dad drive me to the venue. I didn’t bring much, just my controller, the media and parental release forms, a change of clothes, and my toiletries. Upon getting my wristband and entering the event, I was awed at the sheer size of the place. The big thing you noticed was that immediately upon entering, you heard a lteral ROAR of hundreds of BRs going off, a barrage of clinkings from Frag Grenades, and a steady respawn tone almost like a metronome. Upon looking around, I see StrongSide doing a promotional 1v1 for Boost Mobile. Beat him, you get a T-Shirt. I tried my hand at it. I got beat up the tail. Upon having that happen, I tried my hand at 1v1 Gears. Turns out that I can barely move and shoot in Gears, much less pull off the crazy wall slamming stunts good Gears players pull all the time. Leaving that, I tried my hand at Fight Night Round 3. I was pretty decent at it, but I was playing with a better player than me, so yeah, I got beat again. I did some warm-up FFAs and did OK in them, and they started with the actual FFA. Round 1, I had well in hand, as I held first place for a good deal of the round, until I was pushed down by ChapterX and ATM, leaving me with plenty of room above Gambler for a 3rd place finish. Round 2, I was once again, in the same group as ATM, ChapterX, and Gambler. This time though, I received fullscreen because MiMic failed to show for some reason or the other. I again made 3rd place, doing pretty well over all. Round 3, was the crunch time. I’ll let the scores speak for themselves…

After this, I walked back to my room, and for some odd reason, had alot of people I didn’t even have the faintest clue whom they were congraulate me for making it to Round 3, and a few wanted me to be on their team or in some cases Coach it. Anyways, I then decieded to call that a night. The next day, I played a few more games during the warm-up period, including a warm-up random team game with Talent’s team. After the H2 4v4s started, and since I couldn’t really find anyone that I knew, I decided to watch the Shadowrun area. I saw Shoot to Kill (Walshy, Ogre2, OnEye, eXt) get eliminated on the main stage. After that, I wandered over to the Gears of War section, where the coach of Team Prophecy was absolutely nuts. He was jumping all over, giving out Prophecy Bandannas, and basically acting like a kid on a sugar rush while coaching (which is a good thing). The funniest moment of them all though, was when he took a bandanna, draped it over the station’s pole and declared in the loudest voice possible “THIS IS PROPHECY’S HOUSE!” upon beating LGD Red. After a good deal of this, I decided I had seen enough of the event, and left for home. So there you have it. I hope you enjoyed this write-up, I hope you tried to see me on VoD, and if any OcR members were there at the event, or see in the pictures, a guy in a blue and brown horizontally striped shirt, khaki shorts, short brown hair, a silver Timex watch, and glasses, with a tote bag on his shoulder, that’s me.
In this month of September, we once again had our Nominations and voting for the Member of the Month for September. The four that made it through the nominations were Xizor, OcR Gameplayer, Thryx, and A1. The voting was close as ever, but A1 took the prize with 8 votes, Gameplayer once more losing by 3 votes. A1 not only receives a shiny medal under his name, he also gets an interview with little ol’ me.
On the night of July 26th, there were more than 8 people from OcR participating in a clan match against Critical Resistance, a shocker for many people in Outcast Reborn. Due to lag conditions we were forced to play 2 sets of 4v4 MLG style against the other opposing Critical Resistance Members.
The match that I was able to take part of consisted of OcR Fork, OcR iSnip3, OcR Asians, and OcR Hunter501 representing the Reborn side, and KAHN IG 88, AoR Jungle Jim, AoR Selden, and AoR Ledintoke for the Resistance side.
The first match was played on Warlock with the gametype of KotH. At the start of the match OcR members spawned at red base. As always, the starting hill was in the middle and many of the Critical Resistance members stood their ground for a solid minute before rushing into the kill. As they took position over the middle hill, there was a major force spawn in red base, and they cornered us in there. However FoRk and Asians were able to take the other team out by flanking them which gave Hunter and isnip3 opportunities to jump out of red base and fire at the remaining opponents to get the cleanups. At the 10 minute mark, CR was winning by over a a minute, but we were able to get a slight comeback at the 7 minute mark, but it was not enough as CR continued to cover their hills efficiently and effectively. The final score of KotH on Warlock was CR 5:00 and OcR 3:26

Second Match was on Lockout and it was MLG Ball. Communication was a big flaw for OcR on this match. We all spawned at sniper and were able to get to the ball first. We were initially supposed to set up at BR area, but CR spawn at BR tower forced us to moved in sniper tower. As we were cornered into sniper, they were able to attack us from B3 to S2, Shortcut, Underglass, and elbow simultaneously, truly a well thought approach. We lost the ball and spawned at BR area. Ledin and Selden were both able to get the sniper once and were able to get 3 kills a piece on us. We were finally able to break through the sniper setup that they were able to create and took them out. The ball went into the middle again, but as we tried to obtain the ball, they already spawned at BR tower killing us before we could get the ball. CR once again took the oddball and went into bottom blue to setup there. We were unable to break through their well planned setup despite a few successful attempts into blue 1 from top blue from Hunter and iSnip3. CR won with 5:00 on the ball and OcR with only 1:37

Well we decided a few weeks ago to get the Member of the Month back up and running. We let the members nominate and then vote for who they thought the MoM should be. The top 4 nominations where FoRk, OcR GamePlayer, TheTrojanBunny and p0tat0 5alad. It was close but Trojan pulled it off by 3 votes. As Member of the Month he’ll receive a shinny forum medal as well as a spiffy interview by yours truly.
Envy: Heya Trojan, you have time to do that Interview now?
Trojan: Yep
Envy: Great, first question How long have you been with OcR?
Trojan: I joined about December 06
Envy: Any particular reason why you joined OcR over any other clan?
Trojan: Well, you didn’t have all that strict rules and regulations, but you were organized. Also there was the community factor and most clans I was in prior didn’t really pay attention to thier new members.
Envy: Good answer, kiss ass
Trojan: What can I say? I like OcR.
Envy: What other hobbies besides gaming do you have?
Trojan: I edit video allot. Play the Cello and sometimes the Piano. I enjoy reading and taking care of my nine cats.
Envy: Nine cats?! wtf? Are they all part of the same litter?
Trojan: No, We had two cats and then my little brother got 3 for his birthday. Then we addpoted 2 strays who had kittens.
Envy: So every birthday your brother just gets more cats?
Trojan: Lord No! We’d have a cat army if that was the case. Good thing about having 9 cats, your never lonely.
Envy: Ok moving on, What one thing, if anything would you change about OcR?
Trojan: Make me an Overlord =P. No but seriously, I wouldn’t change anything about OcR. It’s good as is.
Envy: Good answer, now for the trick question. What one thing do you wish people didn’t know about you?
Trojan: That I am in waaay to many honor classes at school. So many people who know me refer to me as a geek, when I look nothing like one. No glasses, no pocket protector, nothing of the sort. Jock: “What happened to my ipod?” Geek: “I’ll fix it for 2,000 bucks”.
Envy: Don’t worry man, when you get older being a geek is a good thing trust me. Speaking of getting older, what are your goals immediate and long term?
Trojan: Well I want to go to college. I’ll probably get in via my Cello skills, but I’m not sure on a career yet. Possible Pharmacy Manager or IT Support guy seems reasonable. Short term I will be attending MLG Orlando and hoping to place 1-8 in Championship FFA.
Envy: 1-8 huh? Very optimistic.
Trojan: Indeed, I’d be happy just to get past the first round.
Envy: FFA is tuff, it has more to do with lucky spawns and kill stealing then overall skill. Ok last question, if you had to pick someone to be MoM instead of you who would it be and why?
Trojan: This is tough, I’m going to have to say FoRk. He’s been my bud since he joined OcR even if we haven’t played together all that much. He was the guy who gave me 1v1 training and one of the people besides Kevin who got me into MLG. If anyone deserves MoM it’s him.
Envy: Well thank you for your time, I will be posting this on the Blog later this afternoon.
This week, we faced off against the gaming clan known as The 9th Player. These fun-to play with guys are big fans of BTB game types, and offered Outcast Reborn an interesting change of pace from the MLG game types that most OcR players are accustomed to in this 5 game series. The roster for OcR is as follows:
OcR Envy-Our wonderful overlord
OcR Rhino-One of our Staff leaders
OcR Nemesis-Our other staff leader
OcR x MaSSacRe-One of the Olympians
OcR Thryx-One of our cross-game Olympians (Both Halo and Gears of War)
TheTrojanBunny (myself)-Another one of the Olympians
Aaecus-An Olympian, whose emblem reminds me of an exclamation point
The roster that T9P brought to bear is as follows:
Cobra Pilot-The leader of T9P
Josh Real-One of T9P’s officers
pacers 91-Another T9P officer
JokerOfLife-One of T9P’s members
L Longhorn L-Another T9P member
xGodOfwar6x-Another T9P member
CordedMalakai-Another T9P member
Game 1-OcR Wars on Coagulation
Weapon Start-BR
Weapons on Map-Human
Motion Sensor on
20 Min. Time Limit
100 Point Kill Limit
Gauss Hogs, Banshees, and Scorpion Tanks on Map
–The first few minutes of this game of OcR wars was extremely hectic, as for some odd reason, that vast majority of OcR members spawned in the Overshield rocks, while a couple spawned at blue base, and myself at red base. Unfortunately, that same quirk also allowed a couple of luckily spawned T9P players to reach the red base tank just as I got into the Red Banshee. You can imagine how that worked out. Upon Envy getting his sniper rifle, Rhino gained possession of one as well, and the fun began. OcR quickly, under Rhino and Envy’s sniper rifles and various member’s tanks and warthogs, gained a lead. The only snag was Cobra Pilot’s simply impressive skills in his Scorpion. Due to this, no one was even able to get near him until Thryx boarded it due to my distracting it.
At the 15 Min. Time mark, the score stood 46-29 OcR. We had a confident setup in the OS rocks, with Envy and Rhino providing the bulk of the kills via their sniper rifles, the rest of us peppering T9P players with BR fire whenever we could hit them. This prevailed throughout the game, only wavering really when Longhorn of T9P found a sniper rifle at the Red Base and started picking off OcR members, myself being one of the victims. An honorary achievement award goes to Aaecus, for pulling off a killtacular and a Running Riot. OcR Rhino is also recognized for his Running Riot. At the end of the game, the score stood as follows:
Name Kills-Assists-Deaths
OcR Envy-23-6-6

Game 2-T9P Lowball on Lockout
Starting Weapon-BR
Weapons on map: Human
Motion Sensor On
No Time Limit
30 Seconds from each member of the team to win the game
–Lowball is always interesting to play, for the reason that unlike most oddball games that require some member of a team to hold the ball for a certain amount of time, Lowball requires that each team member hold the ball for 30 seconds or more. Due to the small size of Lockout and the huge number of players on the map, the action was always chaotic. The game started out with the ball being taken by T9P into BR 1, but it was soon play-balled by one of their members after OcR stormed it. After that however, the ball stayed almost exclusively in green room and bottom lift. The action was fierce and chaotic, with T9P members pushing relentlessly to get the oddball in their grasps and OcR members keeping them back as much as possible. There were often at least three members of T9P attacking Bottom lift at any given time. OcR eventually got the ball out of the green room and moved it over to BR tower, then library, and eventually Sniper Tower. With OcR Thryx being the last man to get his ball time, OcR pulled off a win of 30 seconds to 0 seconds, with all OcR members having completed their time, and not one T9P member having completed theirs.

Game 3-CTF Classic BR 3 on Sanctuary
Score to Win-3 captures
Time Limit-None
Touch Return Off
Flag Reset Time-15 Seconds
Flag At Home-No
Motion Sensor On
–Our 3rd game was Envy’s choice, of CTF on Sanctuary. Most Sanctuary CTF games are rather slow-paced, with flag runs going nearly un-contested once past the rings. It was the complete opposite of this only 6 minute long game. OcR was able to gain a good weapon superiority and gain a good setup. That still didn’t stop Josh Real from penetrating our defenses and capturing our flag once. But OcR already had captured the flag once before that, and through a quite hilarious relay that was literally a guy bringing it back to our base one death at a time, we scored twice more to end the game 3-1 in favor of OcR. A shout out goes to Longhorn, whose prodigious sniping skills let T9P take home a flag capture.

Game 4-T9P TofP (Tower of Power)
Score Limit-250 Points
Time Limit-None
Motion Sensor On
Shotguns on map and in hands
–Tower of Power is a classic game type that has been played since Halo 2 began its online saga. The Big Ascension Tower contains a turret, and there are only 3 ways into the big tower, two of which are easily guarded by the turret. The only way a guy can get into the tower is via the OS bridge. But that is usually guarded by human players. When the game started, T9P got the superior spawn, and immediately set up in Big tower, putting OcR down with a nice sized lead. But we were able to eventually break their setup and get in the tower. But to get it back, T9P did an interesting thing. They massed themselves on the OS bridge and rushed, their sheer numbers and cramped corners forcing many OcR members into each other’s lines of fire, and more often than not, they nearly succeeded. But through solid teamwork and excellent turret work, we were able to persevere and win, 250-158. Shout outs are given to OcR Envy, for his Killtacular, pair of Running Riots, and Rampage, AND going positive 38. Shout outs go to OcR Thryx as well, for his Overkill.

On Friday May 11th at 2PM EST I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was one of the 10,000 members to be selected to participate in the Halo 3 Friends & Family portion of the Beta. The following review is my take on what they’ve done right and what they’ve done wrong. It is my personal opinion and does not reflect fact or the opinion of all of OcR. Wow. Amazing. Outstanding. This is a Beta? After loading up the game and playing around with the customizable settings ( Many more options for Armor Color, Ability to change your three letter call sign and same options for Emblem hopefully that will change ) I launch right into Team Training. The matchmaking screen actually bothered me. It’s black and you can no longer tell who has host nor does it show player names for ANY play list ( Even unranked ). Upon joining you can not hold back to see who spawns first it actually appears as if there is a delay to allow everyone to spawn at exactly the same moment. Anyways My first map is High Ground Team Slayer, immediately I start pressing X to pick up weapons after a few try’s I realize that it’s RB ( Right Bumper ) to pick up and reload. After some time this actually becomes second nature, it feels more comfortable in this way. Not to mention that you don’t have to take your finger off the thumb stick to do it. However there is one flaw in the defualt controls. Team Speak, damn it sucks having to use the D-Pad to talk to my team. It’s much harder then using LB ( Left Bumper ) because I now have to take my left thumb off the thumb stick to talk! There is a solution, you can set your Communication Options to only allow for Team Speak but then I can’t talk to the other team in the post game lobby.
Back to the game, after running around a bit just looking at the map ( it’s beautiful btw ) I start to hear far off gun shots. Now this is really what impressed me the most, no matter where you are on the map if someone shoots you can hear it. Not only can you hear it but you can tell what direction it’s coming from and how far away they are. It really brings you into the game, I can tell what gun they are shooting and where they are shooting from. Amazing! No more running to a red X without knowing what gun the enemy has! The sound effects really blew me away. From reloading to shooting to a mongoose off in the distance; everything sounds so life like it draws you in more and more. After listening to the gun shots in the distance for about 2 mins ( Yes I was that taken back by it ) and watching the leaves fall slowly from the trees I decide it’s time to fight. With my BR as primary and a shotgun as secondary I go for it. I notice right away that Auto-AIM has been greatly reduced. The BR feels less powered than before, this could be the reduced Auto-AIM or it could be reduced power not really sure. I come across someone in the Crows Nest sporting the Spartan Laser. I start gunning him down only soon to realize that you can not dodge the Laser beam. Think of it like the Plasma Pistol without being able to turn corners. BLAM! I’m dead. The game continues and my team ends up winning no thanks to me. Overall great first game, great first experience. But as time went on I did notice some flaws.
I notice right away that ranked play lists still have numbers. You’re matched against a range, it will show you the range it’s looking for in the matchmaking screen. You also have the ability to set your preference for the game. Good Connection, Close Skill Range or My Language. You also have RP which seems to be based on how much you play all of the play lists. You advance in military rank and your military symbol appears next to your rank for that play list. That means playing unranked play lists still have an effect on your military rank. Another cool feature I noticed was your numbered rank appears on your shoulder during a game, nifty. So enough about my games you guys want to hear about what’s/what. Ok let’s start off with what’s NOT in the game. You will NOT see The Pistol, The Sword, Radar Scrambler, Over shields ( Outside of VIP ), Gauss Hog, Brut Ghost, Banshee and Tanks. So what’s new then? Lets do a review of all the weapons keep in mind they have all had dramatic face lifts.
Grenades:
- Frag Grenade - Still can’t throw it all that far. Seems to be less powerful than Halo 2.
- Plasma Grenade - FTW, looks and sounds amazing. You can throw these things half way across Vaha without trying.
- Spike Grenade - Bad ass mamma jamma. The best grenade by far, sticking with these is not only easy but very fun!
Vehicles:
- Mongoose - Great addition, sounds like a Dirt Bike rides like a Ghost. Great for getting around big maps like Vaha. Although easily blown up ( Or stopped dead with a Plasma Pistol Shot! All Vehicles due this with a directly charged burst. ) As for riding two people the person on the back is actually pretty useful, you’d think it would be hard to shoot but I found it easier than expected.
- Warthog ( Chain Gun ) - WAAAAY overpowered. Keep this bad boy in mind when playing on Wednesday. The chain gun is insane and the only way to really blow this sucker up is with a Spartan Laser. Even a direct hit on a brand new hog will only kill the driver and damage his ride. The gunner will have no shield but remain alive!
- Ghost - Didn’t play too much with this, not really a ghost fan. Looks very similar but easier to stick. The one cool thing I noticed was; If you splatter someone while boosting your character yells “YEEEHAWWW”. Nice touch Bungie.
X Button Objects ( You are only allowed to carry 1 of ANY item at a time. That means you can carry one bubble shield OR one power drainer. Not one of each ):
- Bubble Shield - Adds allot to the mix. Has some interesting effects I didn’t expect. Namely from far away you can not see it. You must be medium range in order to view the bubble. Also what I did not anticipate was the ability to have gun fights while circling around the shield. I realized you can’t shoot into or out of it but I never thought of not being able to shoot through it. This makes for round about fights with each player circling the damn thing to scared to go inside. You can blow it up by destroying the mechanism it plants in the middle of the shield.
- Power Drainer - Not really that effective, looks cool and much like the grenade is a great way to kill someone as your dying. Think your going to get killed? Hit X drop that bad boy as you die ( Much like grenades )and BAM! Killed from the grave medal.
- Portable Gravity Lift - Useful on High Ground definitely. As for other maps I’m not really sure if it will come in handy that much. I see it actually being a problem with people who like to go places they shouldn’t.
- Trip Mines - Very nice touch. Drop one of these at a spawn point and walk away your almost guaranteed a kill. I liked placing them on places where people landed after man cannoning, heh.
- Detachable Turrets - Yes you can detach MOUNTED turrets only. You can not detach warthog turrets. They have to be ones mounted to the ground or base. But much like the warthog turret WAY WAY overpowered.
Weapons ( Each weapon has it’s own sound effects, from shooting to reloading to far off shooting, After time you can determine which gun they are shooting in the distance. Also each gun has it’s own melee lunge and melee damage. Some lunge farther and do less damage, some lunge shorter and do more damage. ):
- Human & Alien Sniper - Sniping is MUCH harder and MUCH slower. You have about a 3 second delay between shots. The Alien seems to be less of a delay but still slower than H2. Thus giving the person time to hide if you miss the headshot. However Bungie did compensate for that fact, your rectangle will not turn red for a body shot any more. You must be on their head for that bad boy to be red!
- Shotgun - Less Ammo, Longer Reload, MUCH more powerful. I love it, the power of Halo 1’s Shotgun is back. Although still relatively ineffective at medium-long rang, one up close shot and your dead no questions asked.
- Battle Rifle - With Auto-AIM reduced it seems to take about 5 Solid headshots in order to kill someone. My personal opinion the gun looks really ugly. Looks very similar to the BR we saw during H2 E3 Video. I tend to stay away from it in favor of the carbine if possible.
- Carbine - Amazing, All alien weapons have cool orange shots with purple swirling around it. It just looks bad ass. Not to mention the increased ammo and rate of fire. The carbine becomes the Medium range weapon of choice in my opinion.
- Rockets - No more lock on ability. Much harder to shoot, you have to lead your shots when trying to hit a vehicle or even a person. Not much else changed.
- Brute Spiker - Lame. Dual wielding is all but eliminated because of the AR start but there are tons of these laying around everywhere. They suck none the less. They don’t seem to bounce around corners like we were told and they are so underpowered going up against any other weapon means certain death. The only good point would be the melee lunge/damage.
- Assault Rifle - Nice, I like it. Allot. Starting with the AR changes the entire game. No one really dual wields when you start with the AR. I think increasing the damage and melee lunge slightly would help as I found if I missed a few shots I would run out of ammo and had to either melee or switch to my secondary to finish the kill.
- SMG - Sound really cool but you don’t see to many lying around. Not to mention no one dual wields anymore, heh.
- Plasma Rifle - Basically the same, no one uses it yada yada. Although if you can find them Dual Wielding these will kill someone without using a human weapon.
- Plasma Pistol - Powered down. The homing ability has been greatly reduce, it seems your rectangle must be on the person in order for it to home in. It will not go around corners anymore but hit a vehicle with a fully charged shot and BAM! It’ll stop dead for 5-10 seconds giving you the chance to kill them bastards.
- Pod Launcher - Found only in Vaha it appears to be a larger version of the Brute Shot. You switch to third person view with dramatically less speed when holding this bad boy. It only carries 4 shots and shots small rockets I guess?
- Brute Shot - Not as powerful as we thought. Carries 6 shots and takes at least 4 to kill someone. Not much else changed.
- Spartan Laser - Fun, fun, fun. This thing is great, on large maps it’s crazy fun. On close up maps it becomes less effect as it takes 3-4 seconds to charge up. I locks on much like the Rockets of H2, even locks on to people. But the charge and recharge time makes up for this. I found myself charging it up to the point of shooting then stopping unless I saw someone. You only get 4 shots on this bad boy.
Well that about wraps it up. I won’t go into detail on the maps or weapon location. Can’t give away everything then use F&F people wouldn’t have an advantage over you crackdowns, heh. Feel free to discuss anything I’ve talked about today over on our forums. See ya on Wednesday!
